| Meetings |
| To be determined with returning members, 3:15-4:15pm |
|
Meetings held in Ms. Hudson's room. This year, you will travel to the upstairs History corner, room 258. Take the stairs by the cafeteria and bear right. Look for the big "MATH CLUB HERE" sign.
|
| Mission |
|
The goals of the Math Club are:
- to raise the confidence level of all students in areas of mathematics
- to help students to explore and enjoy the beauty of mathematics inside and outside school walls
- to see how common problem solving techniques can be applied to a variety of problems
- to understand there are many paths to a correct answer
We meet these goals by gathering together in Ms. Hudson's room once a week to discuss new approaches to solving and to attempt to answer some creative, crazy-hard problems. Our non-competitive program encourages teamwork and fearless flying into problems we have never seen before,
|
| |
| Who can join? |
| Any student in grades 9 – 12 who has an interest in mathematics and attends SWHS. You must have an interest in mathematics and a desire to learn of the importance of mathematics in the real world. You must participate in 70% of activities/meetings to be considered an active member. |

| Club Meeting Dates |
|
For the sake of 3's and Thursdays, we will have a brief check-in meeting Thursday, September 6th. (9/6/12, get it?)
Returning members who cannot attend, fear not! Send Ms. Hudson an email, leave a note with your math teacher or post-it your intent on my door (room 258). Brownie points for the most creative RSVP!
